1Major Changes in the Syllabus

Recent updates have streamlined the syllabus to align with the rationalized NCERT textbooks. In Biology, topics like Transport in Plants and Digestion have been removed. In Chemistry, the focus has shifted heavily away from descriptive s-block and p-block towards applied concepts.

2Experimental Physics and Chemistry

A major addition is the emphasis on practical skills. Questions based on Vernier Calipers, Screw Gauge, and basic salt analysis in Chemistry are now explicitly part of the syllabus. Do not ignore the practical manuals.

3Navigating the "Frog" vs. "Earthworm" Confusion

One of the biggest points of confusion in the recent syllabus updates is regarding the animal morphology section. The NMC syllabus explicitly mentions the morphology and anatomy of the Frog. However, there has been historical confusion regarding Earthworms and Cockroaches.

Based on the latest NTA circulars and rationalized NCERTs, students must prioritize the Frog in extreme detail, while keeping only a superficial understanding of the Cockroach just in case. The Earthworm is safely considered out of scope.

4How to Study a Reduced Syllabus

A reduced syllabus does NOT mean an easier exam. It means the competition will be fiercer, and the cutoffs will likely be higher. Because there are fewer chapters, the examiners will ask deeper, more conceptual, and highly twisted questions from the remaining topics.

  • Focus on Statement-Based Questions: With a smaller syllabus, NTA relies heavily on Assertion-Reason and multi-statement questions to increase difficulty.
  • Master the Exceptions: In Chemistry, instead of asking straightforward trends, expect questions focused entirely on anomalies and exceptions in the remaining p-block and d-block elements.

Practice high-difficulty questions.

Our question bank features advanced Assertion-Reasoning and Matrix Match questions specifically designed for the new syllabus depth.

5Common Mistakes with the New Syllabus

Students often waste time debating whether a deleted topic might still be asked. Common Mistake: Studying deleted chapters "just to be safe." This takes time away from mastering the core, high-weightage topics that are guaranteed to appear.

⚠️ Warning: Ignoring Practical Syllabi

Do not ignore the newly added practical topics in Physics and Chemistry. These are highly scoring areas that many students overlook, giving you a competitive edge.
