Inhibin is a protein hormone secreted by the granulosa cells in the ovaries of females and by the Sertoli cells (nurse cells) in the testes of males. Its primary function is to suppress or inhibit the secretion of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) from the anterior pituitary gland, thereby regulating the reproductive cycle through a negative feedback mechanism. It does not primarily inhibit LH.
