AIIMS NORCET 2026

AIIMS NORCET Previous Year Questions: NORCET 1 to 10 Analysis

AIIMS does not officially release NORCET papers, but memory-based reconstructions from NORCET 1 through NORCET 10 reveal clear patterns. Certain concepts repeat in every cycle — drug antidotes, fetal heart rate interpretations, shock classification, and Glasgow Coma Scale calculations have appeared in nearly every single paper.

1How AIIMS Question Style Evolved (NORCET 1 → NORCET 10)

The exam has fundamentally changed over 10 cycles:

NORCET Previous Year Papers Trend Analysis and Recurrence Charts
Topic Recurrence Intelligence: Highlighting shifting question types from NORCET 1 (factual) to NORCET 10 (case-based).
  • NORCET 1–3 (2020–2021): Mostly one-liner factual questions. "Which vitamin deficiency causes scurvy?" "What is the normal range of sodium?" These could be answered from textbook memorization alone.
  • NORCET 4–6 (2022–2023): Introduction of clinical context. "A patient on warfarin therapy has an INR of 5.2. What should the nurse do first?" — now requiring application of knowledge, not just recall.
  • NORCET 7–10 (2024–2026): Full clinical vignettes with 3–4 line patient presentations, image-based identification (ECG strips, surgical instruments, clinical signs), and priority-based action selection.

⚠️ The Danger of Old-Pattern Preparation

Studying exclusively from NORCET 1–3 papers is dangerous — the exam format has fundamentally shifted. Prioritize NORCET 8, 9, and 10 papers for the most relevant practice, or practice updated questions on our Online Mock Test Portal.

2Repeatedly Asked Topic Clusters (Verified from PYQ Analysis)

These concepts have appeared across multiple NORCET cycles and have the highest probability of appearing again:

3The Horizontal Option Analysis Method

This is the single most powerful PYQ study technique for NORCET:

When reviewing a PYQ, don't just learn why the correct answer is right. Study ALL FOUR OPTIONS in depth. AIIMS frequently takes an incorrect option from a 2024 PYQ and makes it the correct answer in a 2026 question.

Example: The Option Rotation Pattern

A NORCET 8 question asked: "Which is NOT a sign of left-sided heart failure?" One distractor was "Jugular Vein Distention (JVD)." If you only memorized that JVD was wrong for this question, you missed the real lesson. In NORCET 10, a question asked: "Which is a cardinal sign of right-sided heart failure?" — and JVD was the correct answer.

The student who studied all 4 options in NORCET 8 answered both questions correctly. The student who just memorized the answer key got only one right. Practice this technique in our Case Vignette MCQ Bank.

4Recommended PYQ Practice Order

Do NOT solve papers in chronological order (NORCET 1 first). Instead, work backward from the most recent:

  • Priority 1 (Must Do): NORCET 10 (April 2026), NORCET 9 (Sept 2025), NORCET 8 (April 2025) — these represent the current exam pattern
  • Priority 2 (Highly Recommended): NORCET 7 (Sept 2024), NORCET 6 (April 2024) — the transition period to clinical scenarios
  • Priority 3 (Good for Extra Practice): NORCET 1–5 — older pattern, but useful for core concept validation

Frequently Asked Questions

Are NORCET papers officially released by AIIMS?
No, AIIMS does not officially release question papers. Available papers are memory-based reconstructions compiled by coaching platforms and previous test-takers.
Which NORCET papers should I solve first?
Start with NORCET 8, 9, and 10 (2025–2026) as they represent the current clinical scenario format. Then work backward to older cycles.
Do exact questions get repeated in NORCET?
Exact word-for-word repetition is rare, but the underlying clinical concepts repeat frequently. Drug antidotes, fetal monitoring, and shock classification appear in nearly every cycle.
