According to the NCERT text, in the test tube baby programme involving in vitro fertilisation (IVF), the zygote or early embryos (with up to 8 blastomeres) could be transferred into the fallopian tube. This specific technique is known as ZIFT (Zygote Intra Fallopian Transfer). Embryos with more than 8 blastomeres are transferred directly into the uterus (IUT).
